How can I tell how fresh my feed is?
Sunglo feed bags, buckets and pails are marked with a code that indicates where and on what day the product was manufactured. For bagged products, you’ll find this on the tag or pull tab. Please contact the Sunglo Feeds team if you have concerns about the freshness of your product.

What is the typical shelf life for feed?
The shelf life of feeds can vary greatly based on the type of feed and the conditions it is stored in. When stored in dry, cool conditions, nutrient levels in animal feeds can be good for up to six months. It is generally recommended to purchase feed in smaller quantities, more frequently to help ensure optimal freshness.

What is the typical shelf life for supplements?
The shelf life of Sunglo supplements varies based on the type of product and conditions it is stored in. Generally, Sunglo supplements are fresh for six months to a year. Sunglo Full Body has a shorter, 90-day, shelf life.

What is the difference between a feed and supplement?
Show feeds like Sunglo Calf Finisher and Sunglo 16-G are formulated with balanced ingredients and nutrient levels to meet the complete nutritional needs of your show animal. Supplements like Sunglo Game On and Sunglo 4-Sure are formulated to support specific needs of your show animal. Supplements are additive to your complete feed and should not be used as the sole ration for your show animal’s diet.

How does the Sunglo Rewards Program work?
Follow four easy steps to participate in the Sunglo Rewards Program:

2. Fill out the online application form within 90 days of the show from which you are receiving a reward
3. Sunglo will ship your prize direct to your door

Why did I not receive a prize when I submitted a Sunglo Rewards application?
We review and process Sunglo Rewards Program applications weekly and prizes are shipped for eligible county and district shows as applications are processed. Jackets for qualifying state and national shows are shipped in batches twice annually. Please ensure that you have met all eligibility requirements for both the show level, placing and participant qualifications. Due to the volume of submissions, we cannot notify you if your application was approved or rejected. If you believe your application was rejected in error, please contact the Sunglo Team to discuss further.

Most show pigs eat 2 to 3% of their body weight per day, or roughly 1.5 to 2 lbs of gain per day. Adjust your show pig’s diet based on body condition and show timeline. -
How much feed will I need for my show pig?
- To calculate how much feed you will need to reach your target weight, multiply the days on feed by the average daily gain to determine the total pounds of feed needed. Then divide the total pounds by 50 (1 bag of feed) to determine the total number of bags you will need.
- It is safe to estimate you will need 12-15 bags of a Sunglo complete feed from the time you purchase your animal to your target show weight. However, these are just estimates.

What are commonly used supplements for show pigs?
Supplements that are used throughout the show pig feeding period include those that promote joint, hoof and skin health like Sunglo In Motion and those that provided added fat like Sunglo Sumo and Sunglo Liquafat. Products like Sunglo Explode, Sunglo 4-Sure and Sunglo Game On are widely used in the final push leading up to and during a show.

Before you start your show pigs on feed, it’s important to know what they are currently eating. Ask your breeder and plan to transition gradually over a five-to-seven-day period by mixing the old and new feeds. Most show pigs will start on a higher protein feed like Sunglo 803 or Sunglo Show Pig Complete, which are both designed to support the nutritional demands of your show project at any stage.

As your calf matures and reaches its target end point, it’s common to transition to a finishing ration like Sunglo Calf Finisher. Sheep are at high risk for copper toxicity. Pay attention to copper levels on the tags of all feeds and supplements that you feed your show lamb and do not feed your lamb any products that are not labeled for use in sheep.
